The Shri Mahesh Meditation School in Rishikesh is a good one. It teaches many forms of meditation, including healing techniques, in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. Rishikesh, in general is a very good place to go for being in a community of people seeking inner peace and the spiritual way of life. If you go there you may discover other schools of meditation or meet a guru that will work with you.
I also recommend the Transcendental Meditation technique taught in the TM center that has just reopened, also in Rishikesh.
One other place that I found very peaceful and instructive is not in the Himalayas. It is Sri Aurobindo’s Ashram in Pondicherry, south of Chennai, South of India. The atmosphere of devotion is easily felt.
