The Dalai Lama is my ideal. He has found the strength within to forgive all the trespasses that have attempted to destroy the sanctity of his beloved Tibet. He continues to be a visionary of peace, like Nelson Mandela, not returning evil with evil, but moving into the elevations of higher consciousness, which is the only solution to the woes of this planet.
It takes great strength not to return evil with evil. As Imaculee Ilibagiza says, referring to the Hutus that destroyed her family in Rwanda, “I don’t have to hate them to find justice.” A hero like her, rises above the low-level machinations of the ego-mind, and stands free and secure in their Higher Selves.
People who achieve great feats of physical prowess and endurance have my admiration. But my heroes are the men and women who dared to take the higher ground.
