I do understand the need to pay our bills and not be a burden on others who are doing the work, yet everyone feels there is more to life than this. That is why blazing a path lead by heart and intuition, as you say, is so important. All the great innovators broke away from the pack. They were the ones who brought great benefits to people and this planet.
Yet they may have started out with a job that was not very inspiring because they were responsible people. Albert Einstein worked for years in a patent office, reading through one tedious patent application after another. He soon learned that he could work on the patent applications so quickly that it left time for him to sneak in his own scientific thinking during the day. “I was able to do a full day’s work in only two or three hours,” he recalled. “The remaining part of the day, I would work out my own ideas.”
There are ways to follow our dreams and still be practical about life. But remember this: As humans we have great potential that is yet to be tapped into. If we drudge away at soul-numbing jobs just so we can stay alive, we are not allowing the expression of what and who we really can be.
